Dogs & Owners

He was dropped off at the church 13 years ago, our kids named him Tramp. A shepherd/golden retriever mix every summer he gets shaved. Researchers at UC, San Diego have concluded dogs and their owners look alike. I’m the one on the right!

21

21 a favorite number or a game but tonight for me it’s hard to believe. A dinner, presents, her favorite dessert we just finished celebrating her 21st birthday. Speed-of-light…eat my dust!

Seeds

Newcomers dinners: new people & incredible stories. Five years ago a single mom, a car stuck in an intersection, and an invite to church…she was saved & baptized last month. Twelve years ago on a Monday night cookie call a single mom gave her life to Christ; today married with a beautiful family. A 70 year old man visited the 2006 ILA, a couple of months later an unexpected illness, a 30 day coma, he woke up wanting to get right with God. Now 2 years later still loving Jesus. Seeds…every day we’re planting them.

Debbie

Debbie’s preaching at CBC! Until the last couple of years she rarely spoke to large groups. Four years ago while on a trip God impressed on her heart invitations to speak would come. There is so much about her walk with God I admire. I’m her biggest fan…I’d love to hear what she says…she asked me not to come!

Church

No throw away Sundays! You always hope a guest speaker can build on what God is doing in the church. Charlotte Scanlon-Gambill was challenging & prophetic. Last night our Life Group never got to our lesson (hope Brad’s not reading this) hearing what God is doing in people’s lives blows my mind.

History

Scheduled to arrive in Tulsa at 11:18 p.m. but the flight will be late. Quick trip…my parents are making a transition. Abstracts dating back to the 1880’s, childhood memories, it was my own “Roots” experience! As we walked to the car I asked my dad if it made him melancholy, “Heaven’s no!” I laughed…it still brings a smile.

A different person

His name is Gary, by his own admission he never wanted much to do with God…never saw the need. We met for the first time last night his son had asked us to visit and share Christ. We did and Gary opened his heart to Jesus. When he looked up from that prayer he was a totally different person. Amazing! The miracle of a moment that lasts for eternity…I am still in awe.
